The 2017 Prosertek Forum took place last week. This time, it was on transmission systems, drawing transmission system and equipment manufacturers, users, engineers and EPCers.
Besides Prosertek’s industrial and technical staff, and installers in general, different manufacturers such as Bonfiglioli, NSK and RUD participated in the Forum, along with global engineers and EPCers Sener and Proes, and end users including Petronor and Bilbao Port.
After customary introductions, the forum followed the programme presented below:
- Bearings
Asier de Olazabal, an NSK technician, gave the speech on bearings, with a basic introduction to bearings and the kinds in existence, the most common problems with bearings in the Port Industry and technical solutions to those problems, as well as tools and equipment for proper bearing assembly and monitoring.
- Traction systems with link chains
Heibert Herzog, a technician from RUD, gave on a presentation on link-chain and pocket-wheel based systems, extolling their benefits over conventional systems, and the different applications.
- Energy efficiency
Albert Ginestá, a technician from Bonfiglioli, gave the speech on energy efficiency. He explained the environmental and economic benefits of applying and integrating equipment that optimises consumptions, as well as the advantages of frequency inverters in this regard.
- Speed reduction gearboxes
Joan Caro, a technician from Bonfiglioli, was in charge of the speech on speed reduction gearboxes. We learned about basic concepts, such as the composition of a gearbox and how the gears work, the reduction and torque relationship, power and performance, the main kinds of speed reduction gearboxes, the service factor, gearbox lubrication, surface protection, gear breakdowns and corrective measures, and the classification and selection of gearboxes available.
The Forum concluded with an interactive round table, where attendees could operate different real and educational sample pieces exhibited by the speakers.
Throughout the event, the active participation of attendees in the forum was noteworthy, both during the speeches and with the round table, and even during breaks. This encouraged an exchange of ideas, clarifications and comments that enriched all the contributions during the Forum.
