Last September, the XIX Forum for Maritime-Port Operators took place from the 27th to the 29th in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The event brought together the most important and influential companies in the field of Oil & Gas terminals and operators across Latin America. Prosertek had the opportunity and pleasure to participate in these sessions, where we observed not only the excellent organization of the event but also the functioning of SLOM as an entity that supports and brings together all its associates.
To summarize the purpose and operation of the association:
The Latin American Society of Operators of Maritime Oil Terminals and Single Point Moorings (SLOM) is an international, non-profit association that seeks integration among Maritime Oil Terminals and organizations, authorities, and companies in the sector.
SLOM organizes activities for technical exchange and the dissemination of best practices, aiming to promote safe, sustainable, and efficient operations. It aspires to be recognized within the Maritime-Oil community and all Latin American maritime and port authorities as a society that provides technical support and cooperation among its members.
As an associated company, Prosertek collaborates and contributes by advising all associates to support their needs related to port equipment. This includes consultancy for defining the best functionalities for berths, defense systems, the versatility of mooring systems, and assistance in approach. Not to forget the gangways, which enhance safety during personnel transfer between land and ship.
Participating in the sessions was a pleasure, offering the opportunity to exchange experiences with other associates throughout Latin America. We take pride in being part of this collective and look forward to participating in the next event scheduled for 2024 in Punta del Este, Uruguay.
