The Prosertek Group acquires stakes in Siport21, thereby strengthening its entrance to the field of new technologies applied to the port sector. Siport21 is dedicated to the business of port simulation and consultancy and this incorporation will enable Prosertek to forge ahead in its mission of providing value to clients while competing in the emerging field of Smart Ports.
This is a very astute acquisition, given that both are outstanding specialised companies enjoying high technological value and international background in the port-maritime sector, with myriad synergies in the field.
Following the acquisition, founding partner José Ramón Iribarren will remain at the head of Siport21 as its Managing Director. However, the engineering companies and founding partners Berenguer Ingenieros and Hidtma will no longer figure as shareholders.
Siport21, safer and smarter ports
Siport21 is a maritime-port consultancy with a background spanning two decades of specialisation in the study of ship behaviour. Its installations include a Real Time Ship Manoeuvring Simulation Centre certified by DNV-GL, both for the carrying out of projects and for the training of Merchant Navy personnel.
Over the years it has produced more than 1,200 studies in 53 countries, having trained more than 1,700 sailors from 50 shipping companies worldwide. Committed to innovation, it has developed diverse programmes focussed on the Safeport concept while steadily creating new products and services related to industry 4.0.
Prosertek in the ports of the future
This operation is part of the Prosertek Group pledge to offer its clients an increasingly comprehensive service, concentrating on high value segments within the port business. The company’s latest movements are specifically opening the doors of the ICT sector.
In April this year, Prosertek became a stakeholder of the Valencian company Infoport on acquiring 20% of its capital. Infoport is an information technology services company focussed on the logistics and port sector. It develops innovative solutions for the digital transformation of management and the automation of maritime, port and logistics operations.
With more than 30 years of experience as a European leader in the production of port equipment and the Oil & Gas sector, Prosertek has set itself the strategic objective of obtaining 25% of its annual turnover from the port services sector. Its recent entrance to Siport21 represents yet another step forward in this strategy of forging key alliances to reach new segments of port activity. In 2020, Prosertek also acquired Mare Commercial Diving, a company specialising in underwater activities.
As a result of these business initiatives, the Prosertek Group encompasses companies highly specialised in the design and development of solutions and products for terminals and ports. Thanks to this move, the group now positions itself in the business of the ports of the future or Smart Ports, a concept born from the need to restructure ports with a view to achieving their digital transformation, automation and energy efficiency.
