The Prosertek Group was present at Intermodal Africa 2022, the biggest port logistics exhibition and conference in the African content, which was hosted by Dakar Port Authority. This is a vital commercial event for the West African port and logistics sector and a must-attend event for making business in the zone.
Intermodal Africa took place from Tuesday 28 to Thursday 30 June 2022 at the King Fahd Palace Hotel in Dakar, Senegal. This luxury environment provided the setting for edition number 27 of the annual gathering, which confirmed its position as the biggest port, maritime and transport logistics exhibition and conference in the African continent.
The exhibition had two days of conferences which gathered 30 top-level speakers in the transport and logistics field. It also had an exhibition space where 40 companies in the sector could display their products and make contact with other agents in the port and freight transport sector with a view to establishing a contact network. Returning to in-person networking was undoubtedly one of the key points for this 2022 edition.
The exhibition was attended by more than 300 senior executives, industry directors, academics, port authorities, port engineers, maintenance supervisors and purchasing managers, together with the region’s leading transporters, cargo owners, importers, exporters, shipping lines, logistics companies, ports, terminal operators, railway agents, port equipment and services suppliers from countries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
Also present among the above was a delegation from Prosertek to learn first hand about the local port sector and its infrastructure requirements. Prosertek regularly attends key exhibitions in the sector to boost its expansion and innovation strategy.
The key subjects at Intermodal Africa 2022
This 27th edition took place at a moment full of challenges and opportunities for ports in general and those of West Africa in particular. Numerous current subjects and challenges related to trade and investment at world and regional level were discussed.
Among these, an explanation was given at Intermodal Africa of how to identify the favourable conditions and volatility of today’s economic scenarios for West African maritime trade. Another of the subjects discussed was the planning of projects to develop vital infrastructures in keeping with the regional economic progress and increase in port capacity.
Also dealt with was the role of ports as key economic gateways, as well as innovation and how to shape the future of goods transport both globally and focused on West Africa.
Lastly, and linked to these future prospects, two subjects marking the current situation of any port were not forgotten: the environment and technology. Here discussions centred on sustainable port development and the growth in productivity taking the environment into account, also addressing technology as the cornerstone in revolutionising the sustainable digital ports of the future.
